When February comes we can start dreaming of spring, it’s not so far off now. We are planning to have our Silent Auction foundation fund raiser at the April meeting again, we had so many wonderful items donated last year and were able to raise money to support our community projects. We support Back Pack Program, Ski For Light, Christmas Gifts For Needy Families, Lets Go Fishing, and we send funds to the International Foundation.
The International Foundation has many areas that they use the money for including the scholarship and grant programs. One of the areas not talked about much is the Humanitarian Fund which has given out over $500,000 in natural disaster aid since 1997. In 2004 the Foundation created the Helping Hands to Sons of Member grants. Every year since then, Sons of Norway members across the US and Canada have received individual grants to help them recover following natural disasters such as tornadoes, flood and hurricanes.
Looking forward to our own fund raiser, it would help us know for planning number of tables we will need if you call to let me know the items you are brining for the Silent Auction.
